Industry (Telecom) has control over the Federal Government (FCC) and is violating the constitutional rights of Municipalities
The 10th Amendment to the US constitution is aimed at maintaining municipal and state sovereignty. The FCCs orders requiring municipalities to comply with forced wireless rollouts is a breach of our sovereignty as a city to decide how broadband is provided to our residents.
Focusing on wired utility (fiber) will not only set us up for faster data services in the future, but also keep our data much more secure, since it is easier for hackers to intercept wireless transmissions than those over wire. In the event of calamities such as fires and earthquakes, downed equipment can disrupt our access to emergency services and impede egress out of the valleys. The proposed antennas do not even have backup power for power outages. Fiber optics, safely underground, would not block roads, nor be affected by power outages.
